Boys' Lavatory
Children are escorted to the toilet at regular times and it is an important part of our routine throughout the day. We help and model to children how to wash their hands after using the toilet. Children who are not yet toilet trained should bring their own supply of ‘pull ups’ and ‘wet wipes’ (named). We assist and support parents with their children’s toilet-training. Our cleaning staff cleans, disinfects and sanitises the lavatory area at regular times throughout the day.

K1 Bonobo
Each adopted endangered animal is represented by a soft plush toy (class mascot) that will make its way home with each pupil on a rota system. The K1 Bonobo class is for children 3-4 years old.
A class scrapbook will go home with the class mascot and we encourage parents to paste photos and record adventures at home or when out and about with the class mascot. The class scrapbook is designed to promote home-school connections and literacy development as parents will be encouraged to model reading and writing.
Each class contains two sessions of Circle Time/ Carpet Time. Each circle time is in a large welcoming group activity which begins the day/session with introductory welcome songs, days of the week, weather, register, events of the day, news, sharing and discussion of activities for the day. Circle Time is led alternatively in Mandarin or English.
Children are introduced to phonics towards the end of K1 and throughout the K2 year through fun, play-based games and activities.

K1 Pangolin
Our campus design is inspired by the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy which views the “environment as the third teacher”.
Open classroom pods act as a home base for our pupils where they can play and work together within a smaller class community. Each class pod incorporates a cosy carpet space, areas for adult or child led exploration, and a cubby space for the children to keep their personal belongings.
Each classroom pod is named after an endangered animal from the WWF, promoting environmental awareness and care for the wider world. The K1 Pangolin class is for children 3-4 years old.

K2 Red Panda
The K2 Red Panda class is for children 4-5 years old.
Each endangered animal is represented by a soft plush toy (class mascot) that will make its way home with each pupil on a rota system. A class scrapbook will go home with the class mascot and we encourage parents to paste photos and record adventures at home or when out and about with the class mascot. Pupils in K2 are encouraged to ‘write’ or draw their own home mascot adventures in the scrapbook.
Children in K2 classes will also bring home a simple reader, when they are ready to do so. These short and simple books contain repetitive text and simple words or sentences with clear picture cues, building an awareness of reading strategies.

Literacy and Mathematics Area
Literacy
This area focuses on laying the foundation for reading and writing in both English and Mandarin. Children’s literacy skills are developed using books, stories, poems, rhymes, songs, role play, music and sharing time.
Towards the end of K1 and throughout K2, children are introduced to phonics through fun, play-based games and activities. Children learn through a range of hands-on, practical activities like sorting, matching, ordering and counting. These actions are reinforced through songs, rhymes, stories and role-play. When playing with sand, water, play dough and building blocks, pupils learn about shapes, space, measurements as well as sequence and patterns. They also develop important problem-solving skills.
